TADS Gaming Skin Painting Tutorial

What you will need to paint a custom banger skin for wreckfest!

  1. Image editor (I Use Photoshop CC) FREE Trial HERE
  2. Skin Templates, They can be downloaded from this site HERE
  3. You will need the OnlineBangers:Wreckfest Mod installed.
  4. You will need Bagedit that comes with the game “steamapps\common\Bugbear Entertainment\BagEdit”

Main Paint Skin

You first need to open the template that you would like to paint a skin for in Photoshop, Layers you might see are:

  1. Instructions
  2. doorbar overlay
  3. All Chrome (if it has some)
  4. Roof Pillars
  5. Interior + Rollcage
  6. Number Fin
  7. Paint And Signs (This is the one you would normally start your paint on)
  8. Body (DO NOT PAINT ON THIS ONE JUST LEAVE IT)
  9. Background (Leave this one as well as it the model has any holes in it will not show in game)

Once you are happy with how your skin is looking you are best to save your file ie:myname-carname.PSD so you do not lose any of your work. Then just right click a standard layer in the layers tab on the right hand side and “Flatten image” This is save on file size in the long run.

You then need to save this file as .TGA and it should be named skin’yourracenumber’_c5 so for me i would do skin421_c5.tga

Once you are happy with how your skin is looking you are best then just right click a standard layer in the layers tab on the right hand side and “Flatten image” This is save on file size in the long run.

You then need to go to filters in the top menu and down to 3D – Generate Normal Map and use the default settings that is already set for you. save this file as .TGA and it should be named skin’yourracenumber’_n so for me i would do skin421_n.tga you MUST keep the naming the same for the skin you are painting so mypaint.tga – mypaint_n.tga – mypaint_damaged.tga – mypaint_damaged_n.tga – mypaint_damaged_s.tga
